Words Have Power
Words have power.
They can wound or they can heal.
They can uplift or they can let down.
They can start wars or create peace.
If you’re not in control of your mind, you’re not in control of your words. Mindfulness translates to how you speak of yourself, to yourself, and how you speak of others and to others. It also translates to how you listen and hear within the words that are received.
Historically, words have wielded power, carrying energy through intonation and invocation. When we’re in ego, we speak with words of the mind, spilling venom in haste, creating defense and opposition and causing us to backtrack (“I didn’t mean that”).
But when we speak from the heart, we hear the value of truth, even if it’s uncomfortable in its vulnerability of expression or receptivity. When we feel the arc of peace within, through our speech we recognize the voice of the heart.
Words are not the enemy.
They are benign until we put power to them.
But it’s up to us to discern which power we give it—power of pain and projection or power of love.
