To quote one Taylor Swift… “It’s been a long time coming.”
This space, that is.
For years, I’ve shared my spiritual insights and reflections through Susan Dawn Spiritual Connections, while my love for storytelling first found a home in my novels at Brown Beagle Books. Now, I’m bringing both worlds together here—where spirituality and creativity intertwine, where transformation and storytelling meet, and where we explore the sacred and the human experience side by side.
But First, A Story…
I've been on a bit of a hiatus here at SDSC with the holidays and a renewed focus on my health becoming my number one priority. My goal was to return in February with new workshops, readings, and channelings. In the meantime, I was going to dot some i's and cross some t's while indulging in cozy naps and book reading.
And Spirit laughed and laughed and laughed...
Two weeks ago, we unexpectedly created a new corner for our community where we gather once a month for livestreams centered around current events and ascension energies while aligning with higher frequencies to anchor in peace and unity for the planet.
(You can learn more about the Sacred Circle Community and join here.)
That's it! I announced to Spirit. I'm really taking it easy this time. I'm going to read this pile of books beside my bed and work on my newest novel and come back in February refreshed and ready to go.
And Spirit laughed some more.
That's the thing, I'm learning, about slowing down. It gives you the space to fill back up, to redefine not what you have to do or are expected to do, but what you're called to do.
For the past year, I've been facing somewhat of an internal battle when it comes to my identity and my businesses, especially as I return to the foundations of who I am and my very first love:
Writing.
In case you're new here and you don't know, Susan Dawn Spiritual Connections isn't my first business. It's not even my second. When I was activated to my ascension journey (and by proxy the twin flame connection) with my counterpart, I continued doing what I've done my whole life: followed my intuition.
Except my intuition was leading me somewhere unexpected...
To Tarot. To YouTube. To the creation of SDSC.
But before then, I followed my intuition to create my publishing imprint, Brown Beagle Books to help other writers find their creativity and learn how to tell their stories. Then I founded a non-profit to help other Lyme disease patients who were struggling with the emotional toll of chronic illness find hope and healing.
These two businesses came on the heels of a decade of personal blogging in which I shared my story of life.
It was the story of my personal evolution.
And so it was only natural that SDSC became part of that, too.
The problem was, for many years I kept my spiritual business fairly separate from my author business--not intentionally, but for the sake of my audiences.
It wasn't until late last year that I began to realize how I was keeping myself separate because of it.
My businesses are all extensions of who I am. When I share, I’m sharing what I’ve learned through my own personal experiences. When I channel, I channel through the lens of my own soul’s journey, translating the wisdom I’ve received into something tangible. When I teach, I teach through the example of my own story—offering what I’ve lived, integrated, and come to understand, so that you can find resonance, healing, and transformation in your own way.
I say all of that to explain this:
I didn't want to separate from myself anymore.
Especially when it came to my writing.
On Friday, I had a few minutes before I had to meet a friend to drop of some donation items for the annual PAWS fundraiser. I pulled up a blank Word document, excited to start on a new blog post, but the thought of posting to the SDSC blog felt gross--like it was old energy, like that wasn't my true writing home.
Neither was my personal/author blog.
What the hell?
Spirit laughed in delight and then knocked me out with a huge download.
See what happens when you stop trying to figure it out and just let it happen? Spirit said.
Inspiration.
I drove to meet my friend, brimming with ideas for how to bridge these two worlds that, up until now, felt so separate—but in truth, never have been. When I write my novels—or even my experiences on my personal/author blog—I’m writing stories of humanity, identity, and hope. When I share in my spiritual work, it's stories of the soul, of transformation, and of remembering who we truly are.
The core of both is the same: a journey of discovery, healing, and deeper understanding. It’s all storytelling—whether through fiction or spiritual guidance—each thread weaving together the essence of what it means to be human and divine at once.
After dropping off the items and giving my friend a quick hug, I couldn't wait to get home and get to work. Then Spirit dropped in one final nugget...
The name.
Years ago, I received a download for what I thought would be a new book of poetry or essays. So I bought the domain and then let it sit until it was ready, occassionally revisiting it but never quite feeling the spark--the greenlight that I now know so well.
This. This is what the waiting was for.
This was the final piece in the reclamation of all that I am.
I worked diligently over the weekend to migrate hundreds of posts from my personal/author blog and the SDSC blog into one spot.
Now I feel like I've reclaimed the last fragmented parts of myself.
Now I feel like my writing--my heart, my soul--has a home.
