From Pause to Purpose
Insights and Introductions to the new SDSC!
You’d think that being Moxie’s caregiver during her injury would mean that everything was on pause... right?
Well, I had to do something while I was making sure she was safe and sound!
(Moxie’s doing fantastic, by the way. She’s still walking with the help of the support sling, but she’s eager to get up and move more. Thanks to everyone for their continued thoughts, love, and healing!)
The past two months haven’t been easy...
With a mild Lyme relapse, active EBV (chronic fatigue), and an injured doggo, I’ve needed to slow down, move with intention, and find a new sense of balance... again.
But it’s in the quiet moments that we actually pause and listen to the soul that speaks, and that’s exactly what the past two months have been.
Because we had to restrict Moxie’s mobility and make sure she was comfortable, I spent a lot of time away from my office sanctuary (and my bed *sobs*) and downstairs in devotion to her. In this time spent with her--away from the daily routine I’d set for myself and finding a new one that balanced her care, my health, and this work--I was able to receive new clarity and insight on aspects of my businesses, my life, and myself that were seeded years ago.
Suddenly, everything in my life began to merge in what felt like a beautiful, divine way.
My mom recently said to me, “Susan, imagine what you could have done if you weren’t sick.”
I couldn’t help but be proud and think, “Yeah. But look what I did anyway...”
That’s the part we don’t talk about enough. Instead of measuring ourselves against others, or some ideal version of ourselves, we need to take a moment and appreciate where we are, who we are now, and how far we’ve already come.
Our limitations don’t define us--they just show us where to dig deeper for the magic that’s within us.
(Lyme can still suck it, though. It’s Lyme Awareness Month, by the way. If you want to see what we’re doing to help raise awareness, check out LymeBrave Foundation)
As some of you know, I also write novels in addition to my non-fiction work with SDSC. What most of you might not know is that for twenty years, I’ve also been an editor and creative coach, and for the past 15 years I’ve done publishing consulting through my imprint.
When I met my counterpart and was activated to my ascension path, I was already deep into my spiritual journey and full-up with my author business and the non-profit. I didn’t necessarily choose to be a tarot reader or spiritual teacher... As with most things in my life, I kept following where I was being intuitively guided, and it just kind of... happened.
In fact, did you know that the name Susan Dawn Spiritual Connections was intended to be a placeholder? I still remember where I was driving when I was deciding on the name for my YouTube channel and received that download. I said to myself, “I’ll find something better eventually.”
And spirit laughed and laughed and laughed.
I never stopped writing or publishing my novels, but I did put my business and the non-profit to the side for a few years as I focused on SDSC and my own personal journey. Sometimes I look back, and I still can’t believe all we went through. It’s true that your ascension is like a full-time job at times. For everything you’re learning, everything you’re stripping away, everything that’s shifting, it takes all of your time, energy, and everything you are. It’s a roller coaster in the dark, and all you can do is have faith and hold on.
I’m a big believer in the building blocks of life--that nothing is without purpose. Every experience we have--every job, every skill we learn--all adds up to something, building upon the other even if we don’t know what it means or how it will be useful right away.
Three years ago, I had the spark of an idea and created the logo for a new section of SDSC. It was one that would mirror the Ascension Connections Portal, intended for those who wanted to go deeper on their journey through creative collaboration and self-expression.
I put it aside. It wasn’t ready. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have the full picture yet of what it could be.
That all changed this month. At the beginning of April, I received a rush of clarity and insight. I was slated to do a talk on creativity for my best friend’s authorship summit, and suddenly I found myself merging my world of publishing and spirituality with a new Portal.
Introducing...
The Creative Connections Portal is a new section of the website for the spiritual creative. It’s where your soul’s path is brought into tangible form through creative expression and co-creation. I’ll be sharing more on the Creative Connections Portal in an upcoming newsletter, but you can explore it for yourself in the meantime because that’s not all...
My sacral chakra has been on fire, as there’s still so much more that has unfolded.
For the past two years, I’ve been creating containers within my business to be able to hold the ideas, the community, and the work itself. My inner masculine was actively rising, learning to hold my feminine intuition, insight, and creativity in balance with holding space for others. Outside of relationships, my business is one of the greatest reflections of that inner union, as any business or creative pursuit will naturally be an extension of you.
Because I always want my community to have the best user experience and feel like my website is a little online sanctuary for your journey, I knew I would need to redefine my world.
Cue insane download #2.
With the creation of the Creative Connections Portal, three distinct pathways into our work at SDSC emerged.
Suddenly, our ecosystem was complete. Everything we’ve been building and creating--from the free YouTube channel to the Sacred Circle memberships to the Higher-Heart Academy and The Unity Code Intensive--all came together in a way that made sense.
(I’m a Capricorn rising. I like it when things are organized and make sense!)
But wait. That still wasn’t all...
About a year ago, I had an idea that I wanted to create a fun, interactive quiz for my website. It actually started with my novels--a “which character are you” quiz to point you towards which of my books to read first. (That one is coming if I ever get my ass in gear and finish drafting the next book!) I wrote on a little post-it note that I wanted to create a quiz for SDSC, too, but costs were prohibitive, so I let it go.
Divine timing is everything.
Sometimes when we let it go, we’re actually letting it flow.
With the new ecosystem in place, I had the basis for the quiz, and the first thing that popped up when doing some research was a cost-effective (read: free) quiz creator. So I spent a few days mapping it, learning the coding, creating the graphics, and testing it out. Then I spent two weeks and many late hours redesigning and upgrading my whole website.
Introducing...
It might not look like much of a change on the front-end, but I share all of this because there’s so much that happens behind-the-scenes in order for everything to show up as it does.
This is the way the Universe works, too.
There’s a current of energy running through everything, and so much goes into your life even if you can’t see where all the threads are leading yet. Sometimes, what we want or are trying to create is put aside for a time until it’s ready--until we’re ready to flow with it instead of trying to force or be in resistance to it.
But we have our dreams, desires, and goals for a reason, and the Universe is always there in the background, nurturing the seed we’ve planted until we’re ready to appreciate it in full bloom.
Your life is a culmination of everything that happens both within and without, both behind-the-scenes and manifested into your physical world.
Have patience with yourself and your journey.
The magic is in the unfolding.
