Be Brave
"Old endings make way for new beginnings..."
We’ve heard this saying almost all our lives, but still we resist new beginnings as we cling to the old, fearful of the ending--the ending of relationships, the ending of careers, the ending of old versions of ourselves...
Why is this?
Why do we mark Time in this state of before and after?
Why do we view the old as comfortable, familiar, and the new as something so unknown and scary? Why don't we remember that we carry that part of our journey with us in our memories, in our hearts, in who we've become? Why don't we recognize that it's our present being that helps to create our next step?
Maybe it's simply that we've lost so much faith in ourselves. Maybe we've become too disconnected from the Universe and life itself. Maybe we've been so hurt by the past that it seems impossible to trust that what's to come can be better than what we've outgrown.
Maybe this is the mindset that we have to change.
Life is a continuum in a constant state of flow where beginnings accompany endings in every moment, and change is one of its most beautiful gifts, granting us the opportunity for growth.
But we have to be brave enough to allow ourselves to grow.
We can both miss what we're saying goodbye to and be excited about welcoming in the new. But let's not fear change. And let's not hold onto what's no longer meant for us out of that fear of change.
Instead, let's be excited about the possibilities of what we can create.
